The Clubhouse

Our new clubhouse is the result of 15 years of member dedication and volunteer effort — a space built by our community, for our community. It’s here for everyone to enjoy, and together we’re responsible for keeping it clean, safe, and welcoming

The golden rule: leave it cleaner and better than you found it:

  • If you open it, close it
  • If you move it, put it back
  • If you dirty it, clean it
  • If it’s full, empty it

Hours of Operation

Clubhouse Access (incl. Gym): Daily 5am - 9pm

Beach Gear Shed: 24hrs, 7 days a week

The clubhouse security alarm is activated outside of these hours.

Help keep your clubhouse secure by ensuring all doors remain locked and windows are secured when spaces are not in use.

Event Spaces

Members are welcome to book these spaces - please visit the Clubhouse Bookings for Members page to find out more.

The Members' Lounge

Our downstairs Members Lounge is a hive of activity — from patrol operations, education and training on the weekends to yoga, Zumba, and Pilates during the week. Members are welcome to join classes at discount rates — check out the schedule below:

When it’s not booked, relax in the Lounge. Help yourself to the coffee machine, kettle, and microwave. Crockery, cutlery, glassware and cups are behind the bar. Please tidy up after use and drop a few dollars in the donation box to support coffee and tea supplies.

Bar fridges are locked on weekends when under-18s are present — see your Patrol Captain or Caretaker for keys.

The Terrace Room

Our premier events space, The Terrace Room caters for all event types and is crucial to our Club’s financial sustainability. Corporate workshops, weddings, casual BBQs, you name it! It is also available for use by members, by agreement.

Help us keep this space clean, tidy and ready for private bookings by observing signage at the base of the stairs. When it’s closed, it’s closed.

Facilities

Bathrooms

Bathrooms and changerooms are on the ground floor and open to all members. Please keep them tidy and report any issues — or grab supplies from the hallway cupboard and give it a quick clean.

Lockers

Lockers are available to use when visiting the club. Follow this user guide below:

  1. Store your possessions in any available locker
  2. Close the locker door
  3. Enter your 4-digit pin code
  4. Turn the dial to lock
  5. To collect your items, just enter your 4-digit pin code again and turn the dial to unlock

Items left in the lockers overnight will be treated as lost property.

Gym

The gym is available for use by gym members only. For more information, check out our Gym Membership page.

Patrol Room & Gear Garage

Rainy day on patrol? The Patrol Room is your go-to spot — equipped with first aid and resuscitation kits, plus patrol radios when they’re off the beach. If you notice anything missing, contact the First Aid or Radio Officer.

Across the hall, the Gear Garage is a busy multi-purpose space — a repair workshop, a storage space for club boards and skis and other rescue equipment. Contact the Gear Steward with any questions.

Members can store bikes or boards in the garage while at the club, but personal gear must not be kept at the club overnight. Items left for more than 24 hours will be treated as lost property.

Clubhouse Fobs

Each member is allocated one complimentary fob when they join the club, providing access to the clubhouse and gear shed.

Additional or replacement wrist bands and keychain fobs can be purchased (subject to availability) via the SLS Hub. View our quick reference guide here.

Cleaning and maintenance

The clubhouse is professionally cleaned every Monday morning throughout the season, but it's up to all of us to ensure it remains clean throughout the week. Cleaning supplies are available for member use in the cleaner's room off the ground floor hallway.

Report any maintenance, security, or cleaning issues to the Caretaker.

Lost Property

Left something at the club or on the beach? We've got you. Lost property is stored in the Clubhouse Gear Garage for up to four weeks. Any personal item left at the clubhouse for more than four weeks will be donated to the nearest secondhand store.

Emergency Evacuation Procedures

The clubhouse is fitted with fire extinguishers at entrances and exits of every room. Please familiarise yourself with the location of this equipment and the fire exits by reviewing the evacuation diagrams at the clubhouse entrance and top of the stairs.

Our smoke and heat detectors are connected directly to emergency services. If the alarm sounds the fire door in the hallway (outside the office) will automatically close to contain the fire.

In the event of a fire, do not try to open these doors. Exit calmly through the nearest fire door and gather at the assembly point at the top of the ramp to Pacific Avenue.
