Tamarama Surf Lifesaving Club is excited to be hosting the inaugural “Celebration of Women in Surf Day”, taking place on Tamarama Beach, on Sunday 13th March 2022, as part of celebrations for International Women’s Day (IWD). The theme for this year's IWD is #Break the Bias.
For us, the reason to get together is to celebrate women's involvement in Surf Life Saving Australia and highlight female participation at the Tamarama club. This closely aligns with one of the key priorities of our club's strategy which is to increase the number of active female members. We would like to showcase Tamarama SLSC as the inclusive, diverse, welcoming club that we are, and encourage and enable more women to join our club.
This will be a rewarding, heartfelt and fun day. Starting with a Welcome to Country, the day will then be followed with an all-women patrol, including some guests from our sister clubs within the Waverley region. Other events of the day will include a women’s swim and board paddle (conditions permitting), and a morning tea for our Nippers Mums to thank them for their tireless support and a special visit from the Messina van later in the day.
We will also be hosting a BBQ lunch social for all members and supporters of the club and any new potential female members.
Lunch will be served up on the grassy area behind the beach from 12.30pm.
Please let us know if you are able to join us, and if you would like to bring a guest by 25th February 2022. You can RSVP here. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our Vice President Zoe, on [email protected]
We look forward to celebrating this very special day with you on the 13th March.
