TRAINING GUIDELINES

Please ensure the following guidelines are followed in relation to training activity:

WATER TRAINING GUIDELINES All trainee Bronze Medallion candidates engaged in any water training activity are asked to:

  • identify themselves by wearing their training caps whilst in the water.
  • have a chat with the patrol captain prior to commencing water training: ask their permission to train, and follow their advice.
  • have a "courtesy chat" to the lifeguards before entering the water: let them know what you intend to do, ask for and follow their advice.
  • rescue board training presents significant risks to the other trainees and the public. Ensure you are always outside the flags zone! Remember you are likely to drift into the flags and endanger swimmers if you're not mindful!

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Candidates training for their Bronze Medallion must have a fully qualified bronze medallion holder present during all water skills training.
  • All instructors and trainee-instructors: please complete a "Club Trainer Application Form" (HRS101-C) prior to commencing any training activity.
  • Probationary instructors: please fill in "Club Trainer Application Form" and have this signed by their mentor, who will then forward it to Branch Education Officer.
  • Qualified instructors: please fill in a "Club Trainer Re-endorsement Form" (HRS114) by December 31st and forward this to Branch Education Officer.
