Patrol Notifications HOW TO
We've put the calendar online and made it possible for you to receive SMS or Email notifications of your upcoming patrols. You can also add these events to your personal organiser if it is compatible with Google Calendar, or you can add the calendar to your Google homepage.
This service is completely free to both you and to the club.
Steps
- Go to http://calendar.google.com
- Log in or create an account if you don't already have one with Google (if you use Gmail, you can use that username and password here too).
- Once you are logged in, in the search bar at the top of the screen, type "Tamarama SLSC" and select "Search Public Calendars" (the second button).
- You should see a list of calendars for Tamarama SLSC, you are looking for a calendar with the name of the patrol you are in, for example, if you are in patrol 3 your calendar will be called "Tamarama SLSC Patrol 3". If you can't see it, you may have to go to the next page.
- Press the "Add this Calendar" button, once you have done this it should change to a button labeled "Added". You can add as many calendars as you like, but your patrol calendar is the most interesting.
- In the top left, there is a link saying "Back to Calendar", click on that
- In the "Other Calendars" Box on the left hand side of the screen, you should see the calendar you just added. Next to it there is a little box with an arrow pointing downwards, click on the arrow.
- Select "Notifications".
- Under "Event Reminders" click "Add a reminder".
- Choose how you want to be notified of your patrol and how long before the patrol you want that notification to come [1].
- Hit save.
You're done. You'll be getting automated notifications for your patrols.
[1] If you only see an option to use email reminders and want to receive SMS reminders, you'll need to click on the "Set up your mobile phone to receive notifications" link at the bottom of the screen and follow the steps outlined there.
